My progress to make russian doll cushions

The first thing i needed to do was create the perfect shape of a russian doll out of paper to make a template. At first my template wasn't fat enough and made my pillow cotton tests look too skinny. I played about with this until i got it just right. I used my russian patterns fabric in the 3 colours and matched them up back and front colour and also ones that had mixed colours front and back. I used the fatter paper template with the same progress to create the outline making sure that they were symmetrical. Next i added tiny beads for detail paying particular attention to colours that would match the backgrounds. I used past techniques by sewing french knots working back into my fabric. I pulled the cushions inside out and used the sewing machine on every Russian doll so that the beaded detail wouldn't get damaged. Finally the end results are nice and cute. I am really happy with these and ready to display for my FMP show!!!!

Transfer paper sticker on the white porcelain tiles

I have decided to pick 5 images of my Russian egg, Kremlin, my families, face and some flower illustrations. I used Microsoft word to create the position and place on the page then I printed them out onto the transfer paper with black and white only for the test also save money too. Next, i cut all my images out then i put the front of the image in the bucket of water and waited for 2min. When my images start to come away from the white backing i picked it up very carefully because it is very fragile and easy to tear. I put my images on the front of my white porcelain tiles then i used a dry sponge to wipe them to remove any air bubbles then i put in the kiln to fire. I am really happy with the end result. I think they look beautiful. Next time i would like to explore this technique further and produce something in ceramics.

My final business cards

My final design for my business cards. I have chosen various different backgrounds based on Russian dolls. I have printed them on Lustre paper which is semi glossy. I think these look professional enough to be left in my area of the show for people to take. My business cards ready for the FMP show. I can't wait!!
